Traprock board member honored
Pat Hynes, Director, Traprock Center for Peace and Justice
We are delighted that our newest, and youngest, board of directors member, Hailee Galandak-Cochran, was one of three local community college students honored recently as part of the 2020 Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) All-Massachusetts Academic Team. Phi Theta Kappa, the international honor society of two-year colleges, includes students with grade point averages of 3.5 or more.
As a May 6, 2020, article in the Greenfield Recorder reported: “Greenfield Community College students Hailee Galandak-Cochran and Clairise Netto were among those in the state’s 15-member community college system who were honored for their outstanding academic achievement and exemplary student service, according to a press release. Turners Falls resident Jordan Wyman, a Holyoke Community College student studying radiologic technology, was also honored.”
Along with her academic achievements, Hailee founded and co-directs Friends for Change, a trauma-informed after-school youth club, in her home community of Bellows Falls, VT. As a student at Greenfield Community College she won Traprock’s annual Wally and Juanita Nelson Scholarship and was selected as a Traprock student Fellow working with Professor Josh Becker, a Traprock Board member.
We are proud of Hailee’s work, both academic and in her community, and are happy that she is part of Traprock’s ongoing efforts.
