Our Projects for 2025: Envisioning the World We Want
Saturday, January 18, 2025
12:15 – 3:00 pm Second Congregational Church
16 Court Square, Greenfield
The year 2025 will be full of challenges. The incoming administration’s planned attacks on human, social, economic, health and environmental rights and protective regulations are clear.
The ultra-rich and corporations will continue to profit from tax and regulation cuts, while most Americans wait for guaranteed health care, climate action, an end to endless wars and more.
“Luckily, because of years of work, action and public concern, our mutual aid at the local level and our promotion of more humane policies in our state can reflect different values,” say event organizers. “Especially if we know and support each other.”
That’s the goal of this public event on January 18, coinciding with the People’s March in Washington, DC and other events nationwide.
During Our Projects for 2025, local community groups will present their projects and plans at tables in the church’s large community hall.
All attending will be met by song and cheer from the Raging Grannies political singers and the “Twice as Smart” engaging young Greenfield student singers.
The program in the church sanctuary will include speakers from the various issues areas, sharing hopes and plans for the coming year.
Sponsoring organizations include: Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution (FCCPR), Traprock Center for Peace and Justice, Western MA CodePink, Amherst Young Feminist Party and the Interfaith Council of Franklin County.
Area peace, social action, environmental and other groups co-sponsoring will offer information on their work and plans and contribute to a simple lunchtime buffet.
A printed program will present the PROJECTS for 2025 of participating groups, along with contact information.
The event follows the weekly 11am-noon peace vigil on the Greenfield Common.
Because of health concerns, masks are suggested and will be available.
