Towards Freedom, Justice and Peace: Inaugural Event of the UMass Amherst Chapter of Stand With Kashmir

19 February, Wednesday, 6:30 PM
Communication Hub, Third Floor, ILC, UMass Amherst

The desire for freedom and peace unites the Kashmiris, Kurds, Palestinians, Syrians and many others living under military tyranny, political oppression and occupation. What also connects them is their resilience and their will to fight for freedom, peace, justice, and the right to self-determination. The fight for daily survival forms the basis for the affinities and unities among these struggles. This panel brings together coalitions of scholars and activists from Kashmir, Syria, Rojava, and Palestine to talk about their histories of resistance, imaginaries of liberation and decolonization.

The event will be moderated by Dr. Sut Jhally (Professor, Communications Department UMass Amherst), and followed by a Q&A Discussion with the panelists.
