An award-winning journalist known for his independent coverage of the 2003 war in Iraq, Dahr Jamail has published with Truthout, The Guardian, The Nation and Al Jazeera, among others. Most recently he was honored for his reporting on environmental hazards and militarism; his latest book is The End of Ice: Bearing Witness and Finding Meaning in the Path of Climate Disruption.

Amy Ellis Nutt ’77 has reported on neuroscience and mental health issues for The Washington Post and won the 2011 Pulitzer Prize for feature writing. Her most recent book is Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family. She is the spring 2020 Lakes Writer-in-Residence at Smith and a recent Smith College Medalist.
