The Shutesbury Planning Board has given a Special Permit to Lake Street Development to demolish a suspected Native American Burial Mound and many Sacred Prayer Stones within the Town Limits of Shutesbury on D. W. Cowls' property. This land lies within the 16-mile Historic District officially designated in 2008 and therefore cannot be developed, a fact that the Planning Board has chosen to deny. Furthermore, to cover-up and prevent the recognition of such Tribal Cultural Properties, (TCB’s) Lake Street Development has refused to allow a Tribal Historic Preservation Officer (THPO) or Deputy THPO to examine this sacred land, the first Condition of the Planning Board’s Special Permit.
Lake Street Development(Chicago) wants to profit from destroying up to thirty-two acres of pristine forest containing wetlands, worsening climate and biodiversity. Join us for beautiful music, chants and drumming! Then attend the Planning Board Meeting where you will be privileged to hear a reading of three (7-7-17) letters by Tribal Historic Preservation Officer of the Wampanoag-Aquinnah, Bettina Washington.
