Free and open to the public. Light refreshments, courtesy of the Friends of the Athol Public Library. Discussion to follow. Seating is limited, call 978-249-9515 to reserve a place.
The Athol Public Library and North Quabbin Energy's spring film series schedule opens with a double-feature on visions of a new society 'in the shell of the old' -- and how to halt and repair the destruction on our planet. Joanna Macy tells why this "great turning" is necessary. This Economics of Happiness is a shorter version of the hour-long award-winning film. Conversation after the viewing will be led by Anna Gyorgy, of Wendell and Traprock, who helped with the German premiere of The Economics of Happiness.
And for ideas on how a new library (think Greenfield) can add to a community, click on Athol Library's website for a 9+ min. film on the museum's 250 year old history -- and its beautiful, super green (LEED Platinum) 2013 major renovation and addition. Right out Rt. 2-2A onto Main Street, it is well worth a visit. So carpool with friends to this special program, "for a future worth winning."
(Free, but do call to reserve).
